If it’s peace and solitude you’re after, it’s possible to walk on some of the hundreds of footpaths which cross the moors from your North York Moors holiday cottage and never see another soul or take one of the guided walks organised by the National Park Centres. As an alternative, travel on the steam railway which meanders along the valley with exploration stops along the way.
