Self Catering Holiday Cottages in The Yorkshire Coast
Yorkshire's Heritage Coast offers something for everyone at any time of the year. Whitby is dominated by the cliff-top ruins of the beautiful 13th century Whitby Abbey. Scarborough with safe sandy beaches on the North Bay and South Bay being broken by a rocky headland on which stands the historic Scarborough Castle. Filey may be a little quieter but no less attractive and all feature miles and miles of safe, sandy beaches and is a haven for birds and wildlife.
Dotted along the coast between the larger resorts are picturesque fishing villages, some with a history of smuggling in days gone by. Staithes, located furthest north on the East Yorkshire Coast is still a working village where fresh fish can be bought straight from the boats.
The uncrowded Wolds offer a gentle, rolling landscape with pretty villages and traditional market towns. There is so much to see and and do in the area but the Wolds has an open and uncommercial feel to it which is attractive to young and old alike. There are impressive country houses filled with treasures, many with beautiful gardens and parks, just the place for an elegant afternoon tea.
The best of both worlds. What more could anyone ask – bustling seaside resorts and the serenity of beautiful unspoilt countryside.
