Self Catering Holiday Cottages in The Yorkshire Dales
The Yorkshire Dales are in a class of their own. The scenery is diverse, from windswept rugged fells across limestone hills to rich green river valleys with thriving market towns, delightful villages and tiny farming hamlets.
The whole area is every walker's dream from the challenge of the Three Peaks, Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-Ghent to more leisurely rambles with guided walks and adventure days being organised by the National Park Centres. Rock climbing, pony trekking, mountain biking, fishing, golfing, bird watching, canal boat rides, trips on a steam railway and lively museums are all on hand locally. There's something different every day in Yorkshire.
Wonder at the characteristic dry stone walling and beautiful hay meadows, the tumbling waterfalls and Brimham Rocks, the most interesting natural rock formation in the country.
There are countless Country Shows and Festivals, the most famous being The Great Yorkshire Show held in July, Open Days at gardens and farms, visitor centres for sampling local food and wine and arts and crafts workshops.
Each dale has its own unique character, so you may need to revisit the area several times to fully appreciate its charms.
